Montfort Maritime is pleased to announce the delivery of MFM Nicole, the first of two Medium Gas Carrier (MGC) newbuildings.

In 2024, we entered into agreements with Japanese shipowner Nissen Kaiun for two 40,000 cbm MGC newbuildings from Jiangsu Yangzi-Mitsui Shipbuilding (YAMIC), marking our first step into the LPG and ammonia segment.

MFM Nicole is equipped with dual-fuel propulsion and can operate on either LPG or Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO). When operating on LPG, the vessel significantly reduces gas and particulate emissions, supporting our commitment to continually improving the environmental performance of our fleet.

She will begin her commercial career on time charter to Trafigura, one of the world’s leading commodity trading and logistics companies. Her sister vessel, MFM Ophelia, is expected to follow around the turn of the year.

“It was a pleasure to see the MFM Nicole sail away on her maiden voyage. This marks an important milestone for us at Montfort Maritime and delivers on our commitment to continue building a more efficient, lower-emission fleet and diversifying our maritime portfolio. Working alongside the many stakeholders who made this delivery possible has been a professional and open experience, with a shared focus on quality, safety and mutual trust throughout. We look forward to developing further projects with the partners involved across gas, tankers and dry bulk,” said Torben Pedersen, Head of Trading, Montfort Maritime.
