Montfort is pleased to announce a shipping deal with a large Japanese shipowner which significantly advances its greener energy solutions.

The Future of Shipping

This strategic collaboration, marked by our shared commitment to sustainability and innovation in the shipping industry, involves Montfort signing long-term time charter agreements (including purchase options) with a large Japanese shipowner for two new build medium gas carriers (MGC). The MGCs are scheduled for delivery in the second half of 2026 from the Yangzi-Mitsui Shipyard.

Creating Green Solutions

This significant deal demonstrates Montfort’s proactive approach to facilitate access to greener energy solutions.

  • Commitment to greener transportation: This strategic partnership advances Montfort’s goal to increase its LPG / ammonia shipping and trading activities. The vessels are dual fuel and can run on LPG or Very Low Sulphur Fuel Oil (VLSFO), and when LPG is used as fuel, the emissions are greatly reduced.

Strategic Growth

Our goal is to achieve new milestones and strengthen our foothold in key market segments.

  • Advancing our fleet portfolio: This is the first step in our strategic ambition to increasingly operate mid- to large-sized vessels in the LPG and ammonia segments.
  • Enhancing client offerings: By diversifying our transportation services, we are better equipped to meet the evolving needs of both existing and prospective clients.

“I am thrilled to announce our expansion into the medium gas carrier segment, underscoring our dedication to the shipping industry’s sustainable transformation. This strategic move aligns with our commitment to global decarbonization, marking a significant milestone in our pursuit of greener shipping solutions and a more sustainable future.” – Torben Pedersen Head of Tankers and LPG.

Collaborative Partnerships

Partnering with reputable and well-established companies is integral to our long-term vision of building a robust fleet presence and fostering collaborative relationships within the industry.
